How the tax split works
GST invoicing for a sale depends on the "place of supply" - compare the seller's state to the buyer's state. Same state means an intra-state sale, split as CGST + SGST (half the rate each); different states means an inter-state sale, charged as a single IGST line at the full rate. This tool applies that rule the moment you pick both states, so the correct tax columns show up automatically in the generated invoice.
Frequently asked questions
How is CGST/SGST vs IGST decided?
It comes down to the "place of supply" rule: if the seller's state and the buyer's state are the same, it's an intra-state sale and splits into CGST + SGST (half the GST rate each). If they differ, it's an inter-state sale and the full rate is charged as IGST. This tool applies that rule automatically from the two states you enter.
Is this invoice valid for GST return filing?
It generates a correctly-structured tax invoice with the fields GST law requires (GSTIN, place of supply, HSN/SAC, tax breakup), but you are responsible for entering accurate GSTIN, HSN codes and GST rates for your own business - the tool does not verify GSTIN validity or fetch official GST rates for you.
Can I use this for a B2C (no buyer GSTIN) sale?
Yes - leave the buyer GSTIN field blank. The invoice still calculates CGST/SGST or IGST correctly based on the two states; a buyer GSTIN is only needed for B2B invoices where the buyer wants to claim input tax credit.
Does my business and invoice data get uploaded anywhere?
No - the entire calculation and invoice rendering happens in your browser using plain JavaScript. Nothing you type here is sent to Servicxy or stored once you close the page.
Not sure which GST rate applies to my product?
Check the HSN and GST Rate Finder tool for common ecommerce categories, or confirm with your CA - this invoice tool applies whatever rate you enter per line item, it does not look up rates for you.
Can I save or reuse the invoice later?
The tool doesn't store data between visits - use the Print / Save as PDF button to save a copy once you've generated it. For recurring invoicing, keep a copy of the field values in your own records to re-enter next time.
